What Does ‘Dalgona’ Mean?
Dalgona coffee actually gets its name from the sensational Korean toffee snack made in a similar fashion. In the case of Korean Dalgona, melted sugar is combined with baking soda to make what you might call Seafoam Toffee. A light, crunchy candy that has a smooth appearance on the outside. The inside resembles honeycombs, and the result is an addictively sweet snack!
Are the Ingredients Interchangeable?
The beauty of this treat is that you can make it exactly how you’d like! Dairy free? Soy, Almond, or just about any other substitute milk works marvelously. Alternative sweeteners, as well as decaffeinated coffee crystals make this the ultimate blank canvas!

If you are desperate for some frothy goodness, but don’t have either appliance on hand there is an alternative. You can whip Dalgona coffee by hand using a whisk. The idea behind Dalgona coffee, is that you’re constantly incorporating air into the mixture. If you’re mixing manually, grab yourself a large mixing bowl and a whisk. For around 10 minutes, beat the mixture until thick and frothy. Use a repeating back and forth pattern, instead of going in circles. Eventually, you’ll end up with a new bicep workout and some Dalgona coffee!
For our delicious Salted Caramel Dalgona Coffee, you’ll need Caramel Syrup. It brings the rich flavor of the well-known latte into the mix! And quite honestly, it’s just not the same without it after you’ve tried one.
